Description

Spinning wheel; horizontal, two bobbin/flyer units, wheel with two rims, treadle. A tapered rectangular table rests on three splayed legs. The three-part treadle has a pivoting bar between two legs. The footman connects the treadle to the drive wheel axle. The large mother -of-all holds two bobbin/flyer units. The one furthest from the wheel has a flyer but no bobbin; a small tension screw adjusts its position. The one closest to wheel has
bobbin/flyer but no whorl. The mother-of-all is slotted into the table and the tension-screw knob is at the table end. Two slanted wheel posts hold the drive wheel which has two rims. There are twelve spokes to the inner rim, which is constructed in four sections; twenty-four short spokes to the outer rim with two grooves, also constructed in four sections. A distaff carrier is set into the table corner. Turnings on legs and spokes. Chip carving at both ends of table.
